The Prize was shared by Josephine Okot, the founder and managing director of Victoria Seeds Ltd, and Akinwumi Adesina, Associate Director, Food Security and Africa Regional Program at the Rockefeller Foundation. Both were recognized for their achievements as private sector entrepreneurs deeply involved in improving the opportunities for small-scale African farmers.
The Prize was presented by Norman Borlaug and Yara CEO Thorleif Enger amid a musical extravaganza provided by African and Norwegian performers
Uganda Investment Authority recognized the company’s contribution to revitalizing agriculture, generating employment and economic growth in Northern Uganda.
The company’s research efforts has yielded positive results since Victoria Seeds Ltd has succeeded in taking first position in seed company category in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2011 for excellent crop management and superior yield performance.

Victoria Seeds Ltd won the First Prize Industrial Sector category which was awarded by the African Growth Institute in Johannesburg.
